Welcome to the Regimental Drum Major Association. In 1996, Michael "Mick" Stewart, Scott Grant, and I founded the Regimental Drum Major Association to provide reference material for Drum Majors who aspire to learn the craft of music leadership and respect the traditions of military bands. Our first website was launched in 2003, and in 2016, we made the transition to Facebook. However, we missed the aspects of the website platform, which is why we are excited to present this renewed site. If you have any questions, suggestions, or need research on topics related to baton techniques or the use of the mace in drum majoring, please contact us. Our objective is to preserve the heritage, history, pageantry, and fellowship of Drum Majors, who play a crucial role in military bands. We provide valuable reference information to both current and aspiring Drum Majors, including resources on baton techniques and mace handling. Our many downloadable manuals, information, and links are available at no cost. With over 1000 members from 40 countries, if we don't have the answer regarding music leadership, we know someone who does. Additionally, if you have information that could benefit others in the community, please send it along.
Our emphasis is on field music Drum Majors, although the information we provide will translate to Drum Majors of any musical unit, including those in military bands. I am confident that you will find our site the most comprehensive resource on music leadership, featuring insights into the use of the baton and mace.
